Don’t Count Away the Small Things

I have often been reminded of this. It may seem really small, but small progress is still progress. Small progress is better than no progress. I think that this is something we all should learn and remember.

I can look back and see progress that I have made in my journey with having selective mutism. Sometimes it has only been something small, and this might seem insignificant sometimes. I have and am learning that small progress is just as important as the really big progress that we make. With small progress you can work your way up to something bigger. “Little by little becomes a lot.”

“A little progress every day adds up to big results.”

“If your doing something more than you were before, it’s progress.”

Small steps forward is totally great. What matters is that you are able to take steps and continue to move forward. Take as many small steps as you need, and don’t give up. One day you will get there!

It is also very important to not compare our own progress with anyone else. Every single person is different, and we all make progress in our own time. Progress will look different for everyone, but it is important to remember that progress is still progress no matter what it is or what it looks like.

One thing that is also important to remember is that although something may seem really small and insignificant to us, it may be a huge thing for someone else. We all have our own struggles, and things that we may find easy to do may not be as easy for someone else.

Strive for every small and big win. They are both equally important.

Don’t count away the really small progress because it is just as amazing as the really big progress.
