Thankfulness

2020 has been a very different year. Many have died because of Covid-19. We have had to stay home most of the year because of the virus, and we have not been able to meet with our friends for quite some time. Workplaces and schools are also looking very different now due to the virus. We haven’t been able to go outside without a hand sanitizer or a mask. 2020 has been a very difficult year for many of us.

But even in the midst of our hardest trial in life we can almost always find something to be thankful for. In a year like 2020, I’m sure that most of us will find something that we are thankful for, even if it is just one thing.

Maybe you have gotten to spend more time with your family in lockdown than before. Or you may even have gotten to spend more time with your pets in lockdown. Maybe you have picked up a new hobby during lockdown. You might even have had time for something again during lockdown, that you haven’t had time for because of school or work. All these that I have mentioned above are ways that you can be thankful for this year, even if they are just little things.

I believe that it is especially important as 2020 is about to end, that we know what we are thankful for this year. When we look back on 2020 we don’t have to remember what a bad year this has been, we can instead choose to remember the things that made us smile this year.

This year I am most thankful for my family, my two dogs, and this new house that we moved in to in April. I am also thankful that despite lockdown, we have still been able to connect with friends and family through social media. Most of all I am thankful that God is in control of it all.

What are you thankful for this year?
